Patience Jonathan Writes EFCC, Says $15m In My Accounts Are For Medical Bills, Others

Dame Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, said she was using her $15m, which was frozen in four companies’ accounts, to settle medical bills while she was out of the country.

She, therefore, urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Skye Bank to lift the restriction on the accounts.

Patience said this in a letter with reference number GA/Abibo/00226/2016, written by her lawyers, Granville Abibo (SAN) and Co, which was addressed to the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.

The Punch had reported that the four accounts belonged to the following companies: Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited, Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Globus Integrated Service Limited.

The letter read in part, “It is noteworthy to emphasise that the said accounts, which were in US dollar denomination, were card-based accounts and our client is the sole signatory to these accounts.

“However, our client has been operating the said accounts using the cards for her medical bill payments and purchases for her private purposes without any let or hindrance.

“Our client was therefore surprised when the said cards stop functioning on July 7, 2016, or thereabout. Our client immediately, thereupon, contacted Skye Bank Plc through our solicitors.

‘‘It was only then that the bank officials informed our client that the said accounts were placed on a ‘No Debit Order’ following investigations and instruction from your commission and this is without notice to our client by either the bank or the commission.

“It is in the light of the foregoing that we urge you to use your good offices to vacate the ‘No Debit/Freezing Order’ placed on the said accounts.”

Patience, who described herself as a law-abiding citizen, said despite all the explanations she offered to the Lagos Zonal Office of the EFCC, the detectives in charge refused to heed her request.

She, therefore, urged Magu to intervene immediately.

She added, “Despite the foregoing, our client, who is a law-abiding citizen, has watched with surprise how efforts are being made surreptitiously to indirectly harass or harangue her and short-change her of her personal funds in breach of her fundamental human rights.

“We urge you sir, to kindly intervene to stop the untoward and wrongful actions of your officials to embarrass, inconvenience and short-change our client.”

However, a detective in the EFCC said, “We got a relevant court order to freeze those accounts and we have evidence which we will present in court on Friday.

“We did not know that the accounts belonged to Patience Jonathan at the time we froze them. The accounts do not bear her name neither do they carry her BVN (Bank Verification Number). So, how can she accuse us of harassment?

“She has a separate account in Skye Bank with the title ‘Patience Jonathan’, which has a balance of $5m. If she claims she needs money for medical treatment, then the $5m should be alright.”

In a thanksgiving service held at the State House chapel in Abuja on February 18, 2013, Patience had said she underwent seven surgical operations within one month in Germany, adding that the doctors had given up hope on her survival.

She had stated, “I remember when Chief Obasanjo was the President of the country, I was close to his late wife, Stella. We worshiped together in this chapel. It was a painful moment for me that time when she (Stella) died and her corpse was brought here.

“That was how my corpse would have been brought here.

‘‘It was not an easy experience for me. I actually died, I passed out for more than a week. My intestine and tummy were opened.

“I am not Lazarus but my experience was similar to his. My doctors said all hope was lost.’’

BREAKING NEWS: EFCC Re-Arrests, Detains Former Imo Governor For Bribery

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has rearrested former Imo State Governor Achike Udenwa on Wednesday for alleged campaign scandal building up to the 2015 presidential election.

Mr. Udenwa, who was as a State coordinator for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign organization in Imo State, was said to have collected the sum of N3.5m from the former senator representing Kaduna South and Director of Finance for the PDP presidential campaign organization, Nenadi Usman.

The suspect reportedly admitted receiving the money January 14 and 28, 2015, respectively, in three separate installments. He added that the money came from a company named Joint Trust Dimension Limited.

It will be recalled that the same company was charged alongside Mrs. Nenadi Usman and the media director of the PDP presidential campaign organization, Femi Fani-Kayode, before a Federal High Court in Lagos on a similar allegation.

Mr. Udenwa who was earlier arrested and granted administrative bail by the commission on the condition that he reports himself to the commission at an appointed time. But while enjoying his administrative bail, Mr. Udenwa chose to deliberately skip reporting, thereby compelling the EFCC to revoke his administrative bail pending his arraignment soon.

[Update] Omisore In Hot Mess Over Fresh N60b Discovered, May Expose Others

* EFCC demands list of others who shared cash
* Detectives to quiz Obanikoro’s ADC

Detained Senator Iyiola Omisore is under pressure to name the beneficiaries of the N60b “budget padding” in the Sixth Assembly, following documents discovered when EFCC searched his house.

As usual, he’s sick. Once ‘big men’ are grabbed by the EFCC they fall sick almost immediately. Omisore is on “bed rest” at the EFCC clinic in Abuja where he is said to be in a stable condition.

How did he get the N60billion that was shared?

An inside source said: “This, however, does not prevent us from going ahead with the ongoing probe of the padding as seen from the evidence in the document. We will crack this dimension to his case.”

Omisore was the chairman of the Senate Appropriation Committee between 2007 and 2011. The EFCC found in his Abuja home a document showing a N60 billion “strange” vote in the budget. Also, he was reportedly paid N2.5 billion by the National Assembly’s management for undisclosed reasons.

Omisore was arrested in Abuja on July 3, for the N4.745 billion allegedly allocated to him and others by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

Of the slush funds, about N1.310 billion was allegedly traced to Omisore and three companies.

According to The Nation, detectives will tomorrow question Musiliu Obanikoro’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC) over the N1.299billion flown to the Akure Airport for Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The EFCC has invited Lt. A.O. Adewale of the Nigerian Navy for interrogation at its headquarters. He reportedly accompanied Obanikoro to deliver the cash, which was meant for the prosecution of the 2014 governorship election.

The cash is believed to be from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), meant for the purchase of arms to fight Boko Haram.

Fayose’s associate, Abiodun Agbele, who allegedly collected the slush funds from the ex-minister, was said to have “cringed” when presented with some evidence.

Before the coming of President Buhari, it was all about “share the money”.

Breakdown Of How Fayose Received, Spent Funds Received Through Obanikoro – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has released details of how funds from the Office of the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), were spent by the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose.
The money released through a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, was traced to Fayose’s accounts.

The details were contained in an affidavit filed by the EFCC at a Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State in response to a suit Fayose filed over the freezing of his accounts by the anti-graft agency.

Tosin Owobo, an operative of the EFCC, who authored the affidavit, said Obanikoro conveyed the money himself to Fayose via Akure in Ondo State.

It reads: “Prior to Obanikoro’s arrival in Akure, Alade Oluseye, a staff of Zenith Bank, had informed his colleague, Lawrence Akande, that the money was being brought through the Akure Airport for lodgement and since the volume of the cash was huge, he would be needing a bullion van to convey the money,” he said.

“On June 17, 2014, Oluseye, accompanied by Biodun Agbele, who was fronting for Fayose, arrived the Akure airport and took delivery of N724,500,000.00 from Obanikoro who was with his ADC, Lieutenant Colonel A.O. Adewale.

“The next day, N494, 990,000.00 was delivered by Obanikoro in the same manner at the airport. In all, Obanikoro conveyed N1, 219,490,000.00 through a chartered aircraft belonging to GYRO AIR Limited with registration number: HS125-800 5N-BMT.

“After Oluseye took delivery of the money from Obanikoro, on June 19, 2014, Agbele was instructed by the governor to deposit N219 million in cash to De-privateer Limited’s Zenith Bank account number: 1013835889.

“On the same day the said Biodun Agbele made another cash deposit in the sum of N300 million being part of the proceeds of crimes to the said De- privateer Ltd’s with the 2nd Respondent.

“On the 23rd June, 2014 the sum of N200,000,000.00 (Two Hundred Million Naira) being part of these proceeds of crime, was also deposited to the said De-Privateer Ltd’s account domiciled with the Respondent by Biodun Agbele whilst acting in concert with the Applicant.

“On the 26th day of June,2014 the said Biodun Agbele on the instruction of Applicant further dissipated the proceeds of crime by depositing the sum of N137,000,000.00 (One Hundred and Thirty Seven Million Naira) to account No. 1003126654 domiciled with the 2nd Respondent in the name of the Applicant.

“On the 22nd and 27th day of August, 2014 Biodun Agbele also deposited the sum of N50, 000,000.00 (Fifty Million Naira) and N118, 760,000.00 (One Hundred and Eighteen Million, Seven Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira) respectively to the said account which sum formed part of the proceeds of crime.

“In further dissipating the proceeds of crime deposited and retained in the account referred to in paragraphs (d) and (g) above, the sum of N300,000,000.00 (Three Hundred Million Naira) was put in a fixed deposit account No. 9013074033 in the name of the Applicant on the 7th day of April,2015.

“On June 17, 2014, Agbele deposited N100 million to the account of Spotless Investment Limited, owned by Fayose, with Zenith Bank (number: 1010170969). On June 23, 2014, he also deposited N49 million to the account of Spotless Investment.”

Owobo also revealed that contrary to the claim by Fayose that the EFCC arbitrarily blocked his account without a valid court order, the agency got an interim order from Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos to “prevent further dissipation of proceed of crimes.

“The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in the exercise of his statutory mandate contained in section 34 of the EFCC Act having satisfied himself that the various sums of money in the account No. 1003126654, 9013074033, 1010170969 and

1013835888 domiciled with the 2nd Respondent were made through the commission of the Economic and Financial Crimes to wit: stealing and receiving gratification approached the Federal High Court Lagos Judicial Division, for an order directing the Manager of the 2nd Respondent to freeze the said accounts.

“In his wisdom, Hon. Justice M.B Idris granted the 1st Respondent’s application wherein an order of interim attachment was made on the aforementioned accounts. Attached and marked exhibit EFCC 09 is a certified true copy of the said order.

“The said order was a preservative order to prevent further dissipation of proceeds of crimes.”

Owobo said having obtained an interim order from a court of law, Fayose can no longer use the court as a shield against criminal investigation, adding that while the governor has immunity against civil and criminal proceeding, the proceeds of economic and financial crimes allegedly committed by him do not enjoy such privilege.

Busted!! How $40m Was Transferred To Jonathan Cousin’s Account - EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has traced the source of the $40million paid to Mr. Roberts Azibaola, who is former President Goodluck Jonathan’s cousin, to a bank in London.
The cash was wired through Citibank N.A. Canada Square Canary in Wharf London E 145 LB into the account of One Plus Holdings Nigeria Limited of Azibaola.
About $6million of the money was paid to a bureau de change in Abuja.
Azibaola, who was yet to make any refund, has been relocated from Lagos to Abuja in preparation for his trial. Charges have been filed against the ex-President’s cousin at a Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to a document obtained by The Nation, the $40million came from the account of the Special Services Office of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
“The Special Services Office has a joint account with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and some security agencies, which was managed by ONSA.
“The $40million was wired into the account of Azibaola’s company through Citibank N. A. Canada Square Canary in Wharf London E 145 LB.
“The money was transferred to One Plus Holdings Nigeria Limited with Robert Azibaola and Stella Azibaola as directors.
All disbursements went to individuals and companies including two foreign firms and the wife of the ex-President’s cousin. About $5.5m has been allegedly transferred to Mrs. Azibaola.
“The $40million was in respect of a contract for the supply of Tactical Communication Kits for Special Forces. No records of contract executed.
“We wrote to the Office of the SGF and the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Office (PSSO) said: “The SGF office is not in possession of any document or evidence of contract.
“Even the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) said it had no records of the contract but it only made available payment advice to transfer the funds to the Azibaola’s account.
A source close to the investigation said: “We have to release the outcome of investigations to show that the EFCC is not engaging in any witch-hunt against the cousin of the ex-President.
“Although the contract was for the supply of Tactical Communication kits, when we interrogated the cousin of the ex-President, he said ‘they had a discussion with the ex-NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), to secure pipelines in the Niger Delta but there is no evidence to show for it.
“If there was any contract, how come $6million was remitted into the account of a bureau de change? None of the suspects was able to explain the reason for this.”

My husband keeps Cockxxn at home - Tiwa Savage [Exclusive Video]

The singer and mother of one has just granted an explosive tell-all interview.
As we exclusively reported earlier that today could officially mark the end of the 2-year old marriage between Nigerian pop star, Tiwa Savage and her husband, Tunji ‘Teebillz’ Balogun, the singer and mother of one has just granted an explosive tell-all interview.
In the 45-minute long interview, Tiwa Savage explained that, ‘My marriage and relationship has been very public and at one point I decided that I didn’t want to make it public anymore. So I’m always nervous when it comes to his birthday because if I post they read meaning to it, if I don’t then they’ll say we’ve broken up or there is problem in our relationship’.
‘In this case I knew the anniversary was coming and I was either going to post or not, but the honest truth is that for the past two months, TJ and I have not been together, and it was something that we were trying to work through but for me I knew that this marriage wasn’t going to work. It’s been like that for the past two months.  I didn’t know if I should post and keep up appearances or if I should face reality’.
Here are 5 shocking things we learned from the interview.
1. TeeBillz steals from Tiwa Savage
“Since I sacked him from my management, he has been struggling financially. He was stealing from me, so I had to save my marriage and separate business from family. TJ wants to keep up with the Joneses, he wants to live a life that is not true.”
2. She paid for the balance of his Mercedes
“He went to buy a car, a Mercedes that he knew that he didn’t have the money for it. The person kept up calling that he wants the balance. I ended up paying the balance of over 3M. When it was time to pay, I put the money in his account, so they don’t know I was the person paying for it.”
3. He leaves tabs in clubs for her to pay
“He also bought a Rolex, and didn’t pay the balance. They threaten to go to the press, and to protect my name, I will have to pay for it. He goes to clubs and leaves the tabs for me, and I have to pay for him. He is putting us in debt.”
4. EFCC is investigating TeeBillz
“What set off all off this was that he went to borrow 45 million Naira from someone and he lost it. I just found out that EFCC was investigating a case against him, and my brother called me from London and confirmed it that TJ is in deep trouble, and that some people might hurt him, that I should be careful. In my frantic mode to try and suppress this situation I went to one of my big bros who can help.”
5. TeeBillz fails to provide even when he has money
“A week ago I told TJ that we were running out of Jamil’s food, but he didn’t do nothing. He complains, but cuts his hair twice a week. I have been searching for N45M so that they don’t kill him, so that they EFCC does not carry him.”

BUSTED! Jonathan’s Agents Offered Us N2b For 2015 Election

The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) – a coalition of over 400 civic organizations – has revealed that the agents of former President Goodluck Jonathan offered it a bribe of N2billion for the purpose of compromising the outcome of the 2015 elections.
The bribe came by way of what TMG chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Zikirullahi, branded a dubious proposal.
His words: “Specifically, some errand boys from the Presidency at the time came to us with a dubious proposal that 50,000 agents of the PDP be fielded as TMG observers.
“In financial terms, the errand boys expressed the Presidency’s readiness to fund the fraud with the sum of Two Billion Naira.”
This is coming on the heels of ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission into how $115million (N23.299billion) was contributed by some oil barons and shared to some electoral officials to rig the elections in favour of ex-President Jonathan.
Fidelity Bank, which handled the disbursement of the funds, has already refunded the N49.7million profit it made from the deal while the EFCC is said to have recovered N408.7million from some of the beneficiaries of the slush funds.
The TMG said on Friday that it has now been “vindicated by the latest revelations from the EFCC about how some INEC chiefs and election monitors shared from N23.3 billion slush provided by former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Allison Madueke.”
It added: “With the realization that a good name is better than silver and gold, we stoutly rejected the Greek gift, just as we held our head high in defence of the truth and the best interest of Nigerians.
”The participants in this grand scale bazaar had only one objective: to subvert the electoral process, undermine the votes of the Nigerian people and rig in their paymaster.
“It is utterly shocking that people entrusted with the sacred and heavy responsibility of superintending the electoral process would descend so low to stake the credibility of a critical democratic institution on the altar of quick enrichment.
“In any case, the TMG had always known that the day of reckoning would come for all those who sought to exchange the sacred position they occupy for a mess of pottage.
“The bigger tragedy is the case of so-called civil society organizations which threw the very basis of their credibility as election observers to the dogs.
“We cannot mince words about the fact that these indicted INEC officials and their monetized co-conspirators masquerading as election observers have betrayed the nation.
“They are the unscrupulous elements who give the nation a bad name in the international community.
“It is, therefore, imperative for the EFCC to do a clinical investigation and ensure all those culpable are named, shamed and jailed.
“It is pertinent to recall that in the build-up to the 2015 elections, the TMG kept on announcing that there were anti-democratic forces heavily funded by filthy lucre from the immediate past Presidency which wanted to undermine the electoral process.
“We repeatedly warned all stakeholders to be on their guard in order to wade off all machinations bent on subverting the express wishes of Nigerians.
“It is also worthy to note that the TMG itself was not spared the excruciating pressure and inducement aimed at pushing us to compromise our position.
“For daring to turn down what the enemies of democracy termed, a “juicy” offer, the TMG was repeatedly vilified and persecuted by institutions of the state.
“Even after the elections, TMG Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi, was severally trailed by unknown men, who obviously had sinister intentions.
“In the end, the TMG, as an organization, chose not to travel on the path of least resistance.
“As the chickens come home to roost with these weighty revelations from the EFCC, it is time to separate the patriots from the chaff both in civil society and in the INEC.
“For us, the INEC, as an institution, should immediately set up a far-reaching and transparent disciplinary process to make a public example of all those rotten elements who descended so low to drag the institution in the mud.
“It is only by implementing this process of thorough cleansing that INEC can begin the process of restoring public confidence.
“As for those weak characters in civil society, who decided to sell their conscience and shirk their responsibility to the Nigerian people, it is time to account.
“And because our vindication as a civil society coalition rings clear, all we can say is: let the music play and let the traitors who attempted to toy with the nation’s destiny face the melody.”

Diezani’s Houses & £600,000 Wrist-Watch Seized, EFCC Uncovers $12.9b More Fraud

$12.9b •The fresh arms cash fraud uncovered by EFCC investigators
N2.6b •Cost of an MRI machine ‘seized from former Chief of Air Staff Adesola Amosu’
£600,000 •The worth of a wristwatch ‘seized from Mrs Alison-Madueke’
N2.3b •Part of the cash reportedly recovered from Amosu’s wife.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered $12.9billion more arms deals fraud during the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, it was learnt yesterday.
The development has brought arms funds, which were diverted to other uses, to $15billion as the initial probe covered only $2.1billion.
As part of the ongoing investigation of the arms deals, the EFCC yesterday froze an account with $500million. The owner of the account was not immediately known.
The anti-graft commission has seized houses from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Besides, a wrist watch worth £600,000 and jewelry in gold and diamond have been confiscated from Mrs Alison-Madueke, a source said.
These details are contained in an update on the ongoing investigation of the arms deals by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under the former NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
There are indications that many military officers may be questioned.
A source, who spoke in confidence on the investigation, said: “From our findings so far, the amount involved in the arms deals was over $15billion.
The $2.1billion which you have written so much about is just one transaction into an account in the First Bank of Nigeria in New York.
“They moved the money into the FBN account from where they were disbursing and re-routing the cash. Our priority is to recover these funds but we will still prosecute the individuals and companies involved.
“Most of these companies were incorporated by serving military officers and these officers were the sole signatories into the accounts of these companies.
“All these suspects are not showing remorse, they think that they can go away with the fraud but we won’t allow them.
“Yet when we interrogate them, you see them wearing pampers and cannot stand or walk in public for a long time. Then, you are tempted to ask why they have to steal all these funds meant for public projects.

NOTICE: EFCC Disclaims Recruitment Adverts

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, wishes to alert the general public about the activities of some unscrupulous elements who have cashed in on the plan by the Commission to recruit more personnel to defraud unsuspecting job seekers. In recent weeks, some unscrupulous online portals have featured advertisements supposedly from the EFCC, inviting applications for employment into the service of the Commission.

One of such advertisements appeared in Forum Nigeria, with the link, http://forumng.com/ng/forum/279564/nigeria-efcc-recruitment- informing job seekers that “application form is out”, and advising them to contact a GSM number, for further information and registration guideline.
The Commission wishes to dissociate itself from these advertorials. For the avoidance of doubt, there is no recruitment currently going on in the EFCC. The announcement by the Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu, that the EFCC intends to recruit more staff remain a proposal which is yet to be approved. The Commission therefore advises job seekers to be wary of any vacancy announcement online and report any solicitation for money in exchange of job placement in the EFCC, to the nearest police station.
Vacancies in the Commission are normally advertised in major newspapers or on our official WEBSITE and not through proxy or online portals.
