Stray Wolf Allegedly Killing People And Other Animals In Ibadan

There is panic in Egbeda Local Government, Gbagi area, Ibadan in Oyo State, as a stray wolf is allegedly killing people and animals.

Over the past week, a stray wolf alleged to have escaped from an unknown Zoological garden in Ibadan is reported to have killed one person and ranges of animal.

Eyewitness revealed that the wolf on Thursday night killed a sheep and her daughter at the IDC government school, Gbagi Ibadan.

“Wolf killed a sheep and her daughter yesterday night. He brought out their intestines, over there is their corpse. Some hunters have been deployed to hunt the wolf down, but they are yet to find his whereabouts and a young boy was said to have died of the wolf attack” he said.

Meanwhile, hunters are said to be out hunting to bring down the wolf, its whereabouts remain unknown.

Son of APC Deputy Chairman Arrested For Killing & Kidnapping in Rivers State

Son of the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers, Peter Odike, has been arrested by the Nigerian Army.

The younger Odike was arrested on allegations of killing and kidnapping.

Reacting to the development, the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party said the arrest was commendable and further vindicated the PDP’s position that leaders of the opposition party in the State cannot deny their link and sponsorship of violence and criminality in the State.

The PDP said the arrest of Odike’s son did not come to the party as a shocker and that his reported confession to the crimes would make it easier and quicker for the process of investigation and prosecution by the Army and the relevant security authorities to be concluded.

The party commended the courage and decision of the suspect in confirming that he was actively being supported by his father, describing the action of the APC leader as unpatriotic, shameful, wicked and serious embarrassment to the State.

The PDP said “it has been made to believe that the security agencies are aware of its consistent alerts on the fact that some APC chieftains are hell-bent on causing violence and creating insecure atmosphere in the State.”

It said this “is in addition to the charge on their supporters to take up arms against perceived opponents in the State and outright release from detention of hardened criminals who were being charged in court for killings, kidnapping, armed robbery and cult-related activities during the administration of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi.”

The party called on the Army authorities not to sweep this particular arrest of Odike’s son under the carpet but to ensure that thorough process is followed in bringing him to justice to serve as deterrent to others in the State.

The PDP also appealed to other security agencies to redouble their efforts in tackling insecurity, violence and criminality in the State.

It said it was aware of the frantic efforts the APC leaders were making, apart from the blackmail, to incite, cause violence, insecurity and declaration of state of emergency in the State.

Former Pastor Philip Grandine was found guilty of killing pregnant wife.

A jury has found a former pastor guilty of manslaughter in the 2011 death of his pregnant wife.
Anna Karissa Grandine, 29, was found drowned in the bathtub of her Scarborough home on Oct. 17, 2011. An autopsy found traces of the sedative Lorazepam A, commonly known as Ativan, in her blood. She was five months pregnant at the time.
On Thursday, a jury found her husband, former pastor Philip Grandine, guilty of manslaughter. Grandine is in police custody and his sentencing will occur on December 11 at 10 a.m. His defense lawyer said that Grandine and his family are “absorbing” the events of the day. “It is clear that the jury has found that he had no intention to kill his wife, and for that I’m grateful,” he added. Grandine was originally facing a first-degree murder charge.
During the trial, Crown alleged that Grandine plotted to kill his wife so he could continue an extramarital affair with one of his parishioners at Ennerdale Baptist Church. Police responded to a 911 call made from Grandine’s home on Marsh Road, near Danforth Road and St. Clair East on the night of his wife’s death.
The ex-pastor told the 911 operator he returned home and found his wife under the water in the bathtub and not breathing. "I just came home," he told the 911 dispatcher. "I was out running and my wife was taking a bath, and when I came home she was in the bath, but she's under the water and she's not breathing." The Crown alleged the call placed by Grandine was faked, and he had no intention of saving his wife. The victim was taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The ex-pastor also worked as a nurse, and the Crown suggested he may have had access to the sedative Ativan, which they say was used to drug the victim.
Police said that computer records showed that a week earlier Grandine’s Wiki.answers.com account was used on the forum to ask whether a 100mg dose of Ativan would be fatal. The account also conducted searches on the same subject.

The couple’s doctor told the court that Grandine’s wife was never prescribed Ativan. Grandine also admitted to him that he was unhappy in his marriage. "He was not sure if his wife would have been his first choice if he had to do it all over again," Dr. Irving Gore told the court. The court was told that Grandine was forced to resign from his position at the Ennerdale Baptist Church after his wife and other parishioners found out about his affair with Eileen Florentino. Florentino said the two had sex in his car a few days after his wife died. She said the relationship lasted another six months.
The defense argued Grandine’s wife killed herself because of the affair. Investigators also said on the night of his wife’s death a filter that limits and monitors visits to pornographic sites on Grandine’s computer was removed after 10:05 p.m. Grandine had told police he had gone for a jog at 9:45, and returned home an hour later to find his wife in the bathtub. Police also pointed to computer records that showed Internet searches for “body rubs dream spa: a new spa massage,” “let Thai companion give u the ultimate experience,” and “TO sluts: Toronto escorts review” days before the murder.
They also reported that they discovered an Internet search for female escorts was done on the night of Grandine’s wife’s death.
