Obasanjo donates [PATIENCE] to Pandrillus Zoo (See here)

Pandrillus, a conservation organisation based in Nigeria and Cameroun disclosed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo donated a chimpazee named ‘Patience’ to them.

The organization, with a location in Calabar, Cross Rivers Stae, are dedicated to promoting the survial of the highly endangered Drill (Mandrillus leucopheus) and providing safe haven for orphaned chimpazees.

They shared this photo on their official Facebook page today, writing:

“Seen here at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Wildlife Park in Abeokuta – from left: Peter, Liza with Patience, and Mr. President. As President of Nigeria, he visited Drill Ranch in 2001, and made a follow up visit in 2011.

President Obasanjo recognises the special care needs of chimpanzees and therefore decided to place 3 year old Patience with Pandrillus so she can grow up in the forest as part of the large chimpanzee group at Drill Ranch Afi Mountain.

Patience is a fantastic chimpanzee who has been well cared for by the staff of the OOPL Wildlife Park. Once she has completed her medical screening in Calabar, she will join the group at the newly completed Nigerian Chimpanzee Center – located at Drill Ranch Afi Mountain in Boki LGA of Cross River State.

Pandrillus thanks Mr. President and his staff for their logistical support and hospitality during Peter and Liza’s working visit.

We also thank Air Peace for carrying all three back to Calabar.

Did you know ‘Sarah Baartman" South African Lady who was Posed in a french Zoo? #Pray4France

When you pray for France do not forget to pray for that South African lady Sarah Baartman whose body was in French zoos being used as an exhibition. During her living days she was sexually abused and would be forced to walk Unclad in the streets of Paris and every white mafias would just touch her Body or have sex with her. In the 1800s, people in London were able to pay two shillings apiece to gaze upon her body in wonder. Baartman was considered a freak of nature. For extra pay, one could even poke her with a stick or finger. She would be used in lectures as exhibition of how the Body of a Black lady looks like and even today the French people believe the female core of a Black women has demons. After her death, Cuvier dissected her body, then displayed her remains. For more than a century and a half, visitors to the Museum of Man in Paris could view her brain, skeleton and Instruments until she was buried. . The rest of Baartman's flesh was boiled down to bones for Cuvier's collection and displayed for years afterward. Baartman's body did not receive a proper burial. Some psychological thoughts believe that was the beginning of lack of confidence by most Black women. Do not also forget to pray for the 18000 chopped heads of Africans who were beheaded during French colonization of the Francophone countries. As am writing here these thousands of African bodies are hanged in French Museums as exhibitions of French Colonial supremacy.
