Baby Born With 31 Fingers & Toes Undergoing Surgery (Photos)

A baby with 31 fingers and toes has undergone the first of three surgical operations to correct his rare birth abnormalities.

The eight-month-old boy, named Hong Hong, has 15 fingers and 16 toes – but no thumbs on either palm.

Born to migrant worker parents from the village of Zhongping, China, the child suffers from a severe case of polydactyly, which causes the extra digits. While polydactyly occurs in an estimated one in every 1,000 cases, serious cases like this are rare.

His mum also has one extra finger on each hand, which may explain how the infant inherited the condition.

But unlike his mother, Hong Hong’s case is much more urgent as it will affect whether or not he can walk properly in the future.

After hearing about the boy’s case, the No. 6 Hospital of Ningbo City, agreed to reduce the family’s medical costs – estimated as high as £57,786 – and have since admitted the infant for the triple-phase corrective surgery.

According to the hospital’s resident doctor Xu Jihai, the operations will involve cutting off the boy’s extra fingers and toes and eventually reshaping his remaining digits.

The high-risk surgeries will deal with his bones, joints, skin, nails as well as critical veins, making them not only challenging, but also requiring an extensive post-op recovery regime.

The first phase of the infant’s treatment has already been completed, with medics performing surgery on his feet, according to reports.

Busted!!! China Selling Human Flesh As Food To Africans

China’s ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming has released a stern statement seeking to battle misinformation that he said was harming China’s reputation in Africa.
The palava was caused by reports online claiming that China was taking dead bodies, marinating them, putting them in cans and then selling them in African supermarkets.
“This is completely a malicious slandering and vilification, which is absolutely unacceptable to us,” according to Youming’s statement, which was widely reported in Chinese state media.
Chinese state media accused tabloids in Zambia of spreading the rumors, stating that people with ulterior motives were attempting to destroy the long-standing partnership between Zambia and China.
A number of blogs and other publications appeared to have picked up the stories from Facebook.
Some reports quoted people who allegedly worked in Chinese meat factories as saying that the practice had begun because China had run out of space to bury their dead or that Beijing reserved its good, nonhuman meat for more powerful countries.
These pictures have been already been debunked as fake
Yang demanded an investigation by Zambia, prompting an apology from Zambian Deputy Defense Minister Christopher Mulenga.
“The government of Zambia regrets the incident in view of the warm relations that exist between Zambia and China,” Mulenga said.
“We shall make sure that relevant government authorities will take up the investigations and give a comprehensive statement.”

Baby boy for sell - $7,000

In China, A woman in central China has been prosecuted for selling her newborn baby for $7,000, state media reports said, the latest of a string of shocking cases that have shed light on the country's trade in children. The 30-year-old woman, surnamed Huang, allegedly colluded with an obstetrician, Yang, in Xinxiang county, Henan province, to sell the baby boy, according to details published in the Pro curatorial Daily, a legal publication.
Yang sold the baby boy to a couple in the same county for 42,000 yuan. She gave 35,000 yuan to Huang and kept 7,000 yuan for herself, the report said. The case came to light in August after the boy's grandmother alerted police. The grandmother said Huang had left the village to go to her parents' home after quarreling with her husband. When Huang returned two weeks later, she said the baby had died but the grandmother grew suspicious as her daughter-in-law didn't seem sad.
A relative then discovered that the boy had been sold. Huang had a son from a previous marriage and thought a new baby would be bad for the elder child, reports said. The boy is now in the care of his father's family. Child trafficking is a long-standing problem in China. A traditional preference for sons and the country's one-child policy means that boys are particularly prized. Earlier this month, a Chinese man who was abducted from a vegetable market as a toddler enjoyed an emotional reunion with his father after 24 years apart. The news came the same week police said they had busted a trafficking ring involving at least 103 people, and rescued 37 newborn babies that were transported in handbags and suitcases to prospective buyers. According to the U.S. State Department's 2014 Trafficking in Persons Report, China does not fully comply with the recommended minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking; however, the report says it is making significant efforts to do.
