Nigerian Troops today foil suicide car bombing in Borno North.
The incident occurred at about 9.15AM on Tuesday morning,

The suicide bombers arrived in a pickup vehicle primed with Improvised Explosive Devices including suicide vests.

They attempted to force their way through the checkpoint but met stiff resistance from troops who insisted that the vehicle be thoroughly checked.

House of Representatives committee investigating alleged diversion of funds and materials meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS), especially the alleged use of N270m just to clear grass by the office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) said it was being frustrated by the refusal of the SGF, Mr Babachir Lawal to appear before it.

The committee particularly decried the failure of Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Babachir Lawal, to honour summon to him to appear and clarify some issues on the allegation.

The Committee on IDPs and the North-East Initiatives, mandated by the house to investigate the allegation had invited Lawal to explain how his office spent about N12 billion allocated for the IDPs’ challenges.
The committee is also investigating the expenditure of N270 million by the Presidential Initiative on the North-East (PINE) “on just clearing of grass’’. Also being probed by house committee is the purported allocation of N188.69 million for Nigerian refugees living in Minawao, Republic of Cameroon‎.

Expressing disappointment with the attitude of the SGF towards the committee, Chairman of the committee, Rep. Sani Zorro, said “The SGF who was slated to have appeared hasn’t showed up.”

“He did not write to intimate us on why his office would not come to explain why issues of internally displaced persons‎ have remained un-encouraging, in spite of the billions of naira claimed to have been spent. “The PINE officials said he’s at the villa.

“But, as the secretary to the government under whose office the rehabilitation of the North-East was placed, we had expected him to come to throw light on the financial expenses made by his office.

“We also expected him to explain the implementation framework being used to spend money.

“We have been inundated by reports of diversion of materials and funds meant for the rehabilitation of the IDPs, and the North-East and the scandal had led to international embarrassment for the country.

“Given the issues of credibility and integrity raised against the agency in charge of the North-East Initiative (PiNE) which falls under the SGF office, we had expected him to respect the invitation.”

However, testifying before the committee members, Executive Secretary in charge of the Presidential Initiative, Mr Umar Gulani, said that N270 million was awarded as contract. He said the contract was for the removal of 250 kilometres of “invasive plant species along river channels and simplified village irrigation scheme (phase II) in Komadugu Basin in Yobe’’.

In reaction, Zorro expressed dissatisfaction with the explanation, saying, “we are of the opinion that the expenditure of the magnitude you have made‎ is not justified.

“It’s not acceptable that you would spend such a huge amount of money on the clearing of weeds while 2.5 million internally displaced victims of terror go hungry. “They have no shelter and medical care.”

The committee, therefore, demanded further details from PINE, to be submitted to it without delay.

Too Bad- Naira Crashes Further To N436/Dollar

THE Naira on Thursday crashed further against the major currencies in all the segments of the market, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

At the interbank market, the naira fell by 2.99 points to close at N313.07 from N310.08 recorded on Wednesday.
At the Bureau De Change segment of the market, the naira traded at N424, N549 and N468 to the dollar, Pound Sterling and the Euro respectively.
Trading at the Parallel market showed that the naira lost 8 points to close at N436, from N428 posted on Wednesday, while it traded at N555 and N472 against the Pound Sterling and the Euro respectively.
Traders at the market said the scarcity of the greenback was still haunting the market.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, the President Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria, said that he foresees the naira on the path of recovery by Monday.
“The naira will begin to recover by Monday when Travelex begins to sell forex to BDCs,” Gwadabe said.
Gwadabe said with the coming onboard of Travelex, a licensed forex dealer, efficiency, transparency and equitable distribution of forex would be restored in the market.
NAN reports that since the implementation of the flexible exchange rate by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the gap between the official interbank rate and the parallel market continued to soar.
The naira, which had opened at N285 at the launch of the policy, had depreciated by 10 per cent, while it continued to crash further at the parallel market.

Ban On Road Block Still In Place – IGP

The acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, has said road blocks remains banned. He said the ban on road block was a directive from the Federal Government.
Idris also dismissed the reported sack or forced retirement of some AIGs and other senior police officers as mere speculation.

The IGP spoke in Abuja during his maiden meeting with senior officers of the Force.

Matters that were discussed at the meeting include – declaration of assets, withdrawal of Police Mobile Force, (PMF) personnel, restructuring of Special Anti- Robbery Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit, formation of eminent persons forum in each state command and establishment of joint operations centre in each state command.

Others were – discipline, need to observe chain of command, turnout of personnel, welfare, sustenance of order banning roadblocks, IGPs collaboration with military and other security agencies to ensure safe return of IDPs to their communities and strengthening of security at IDP camps.

Commenting on the ban of road blocks, Idris said: “I want to say that road blocks remain banned and it is not even a police policy, it is a directive from the federal government and we must abide by it.

“We are going to reinforce the X-Squad and they will check corruption within the police and at various levels in the civil servants. We are going to set them up at commands and they will be used to check the illegal road blocks and I can assure you that they are going to be effective.”

Fuel Hike: ASUU Declares Nationwide Strike

National President of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Biodun Ogunyemi has mobilized members of the union for strike and mass action commencing Wednesday to force the Federal Government to revert the pump price from N145 to N86.50.

In a letter sent to members of the congress nationwide and read at the University of Ibadan Chapter where the Chairman, Dr Deji Omole mobilized members to get ready for mass resistance to what he called the obnoxious and callous policy of fuel price increment.

According to Omole, the policy of subsidy removal was the most criminal ambush from the Mohammadu Buhari-led federal government to empower the rich and cripple the poor.

The ASUU boss who said that the common denominator to all Nigerians is poverty added that the same APC government that failed to pay civil servants for months is now celebrating budget signing with the legalization of black market.

Omole who noted that many state governors who now align with the removal of subsidy ran their states aground through wasteful spending added that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission should beam search lights on state governors.

ASUU boss noted that the coup against the masses adding that since Nigeria runs motorized economy, Nigerians cannot be forced to carry the problems created by the rich and friends of government.

ASUU president in the letter entitled “Increase in Pump price of Premium Motor Spirit to N145 perlitre: Proposal for Joint Action with NLC stated that ASUU members are called upon to according to our Union’s principles, fully respect Article 2 of the Constitution of ASUU; that our Union and members shall work for the protection and advancement of the socio-economic interests of the nation.

Branch Chairpersons are to conduct emergency congress meetings on Tuesday 17 May 2016 to mobilize our members for the action commencing on Wednesday. All branches of ASUU nationwide are to comply”

Ogunyemi anchored the position on “delayed, partially paid and in most cases unpaid salaries for a number of months by state, federal and local governments, disguised retrenchment of workers, especially by State Governments, in the name of verification exercise and endless hunt for ghost workers and heavy taxation”.

Former Chief Justice Of Nigeria, Mohammed Uwais Son Who Joined ISIS Is Reportedly Killed In Syrian Airstrike

According to Sahara Reporters, 41 years old son of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammed Uwais, Ibrahim Uwais who reportedly left Nigeria with his two wives and children in February last year to join the Islamic terror group, ISIS, was killed yesterday May 9th near Aleppo, Syria during an airstrike by the United States targeted at members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

A source told the Sahara Reporters that Ibrahim was one of numerous Islamist terrorists who perished as US military aircraft bombarded known ISIS camps near the besieged Syrian city of Aleppo.‎

News of Ibrahim joining the terror group broke last year. His father served as the Chief Justice of Nigeria from 1995 to 2006.

Lord Lugard's Magic (why Nigeria is like this) - Fani Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, says Nigeria has refused to develop because it was built on a “satanic” foundation.

The former minister said this in a Facebook post titled “Lord Lugard’s Magic and Flora Shaw’s Spell.”

Fani-Kayode, who also served as the Minister of Tourism under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said the manner with which Nigeria was created in 1914 was the reason the country was still struggling.

He said both Lord Fredrick Lugard, who was the first Governor-General of Nigeria; and his wife, Flora Shaw (later Flora Lugard), who gave Nigeria its name, were worshipers of Satan.

Fani-Kayode said:-

“It is generally agreed though not commonly admitted that both Lugard and Flora Shaw were Luciferians who practiced the black art and all manner of satanic rituals.”

“He (Lugard) was a ‘High Priest of the Freemasons’ whilst they were both avid followers of Aleister Crowley, the leading Satanist of his day and the self-styled ‘world’s most wicked man.’”

“This explains a lot. It also explains why Shaw gave us the name Nigeria- a name which has questionable roots. Anyone that doubts this should consider the literal translation of Nigeria into Latin: It means ‘the area of darkness’ and there is a deep spiritual and mystical reason why she gave us that name.”

“It comes with a lot of baggage because not much good can come out of an area of darkness.” Fani-Kayode, who was the spokesperson for former President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign organization, said most of the African countries that were colonized by Britain had since changed their names.

He said only Sudan and Nigeria refused to change their names and that was why they were still struggling.

He added, “Most of the former British colonies changed their names after independence for similar reasons but because most of our leaders were not aware of these matters, they refused to do so”.

“Lugard and Shaw were an unlikely couple who had no children. What held them together was more spiritual and mystical than anything else and Nigeria and Sudan are their joint legacy to the world.”

“Sadly, both countries are having major challenges today. Sudan has broken into two after a protracted and bitter civil war while Nigeria is experiencing serious regional, ethnic and religious tensions. It is clear that our nation needs a good deal of prayers. May God deliver us from Lord Lugard’s magic and his beautiful wife’s spell.”

Fani-Kayode said Nigeria was created such that the North could rule forever while the resources of the South would be continually exploited.

The former Minister said that it was a miracle that Nigeria had only witnessed one civil war since it gained independence in 1960.

He argued that the only thing that has kept Nigeria united was the oil in the Niger Delta as well as the strength, patience and collective will of the people.

He said:-

“This was his (Lugard’s) vision: a northern Nigeria that was essentially the ‘head of the household’ and that would remain in control of all the powers and resources of the state and a southern Nigeria that would play the role of a passive and subservient wife whose destiny it was to remain in perpetual subjugation and bondage.”

“The truth is that the British colonialists were masters of divide and rule. The amalgamation of the southern and northern protectorates was a Greek gift which was designed to fail and crumble at appropriate time. Nigerians have done so well to have held it together for so long and the fact that we have only experienced one civil war is miraculous.”

Prophet TB Joshua Makes Terrifying Prophesy Against Nigeria And Ghana

A terrorist attack will kill people in Nigeria and Ghana this month, says the Founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Nigeria, Prophet TB Joshua.

The popular Lagos based prophet has asked members of his Church to pray against planned ‘foreign attacks’ on Nigeria and Ghana.

According to Yen.com.gh, TB Joshua made the prophesy while speaking during his Church’s service, which was beamed live on Emmanuel TV on Sunday, April 10.

A 2:56s video culled from the live sermon on Sunday, shows the prophet urging thousands of his SCOAN congregants to begin sporadic prayers for the two countries in order to scuttle the ‘evil plans’ of the unnamed attackers.

The Prophet was even specific on days on which the attackers will strike, predicting the attacks will take place at gathering of people.

“I am seeing Thursday, Friday, Saturday –if I may say Thursday – because these evil people they are very funny. Anything can just happen.

You will be very shocked to see what will happen, because when the prayer is going in this direction they [attackers] change to [another] direction.

"I see Thursday, Friday. Pray for these two nations – Nigeria and Ghana – over gathering in any way; over attack. I am seeing attack and that will be in a foreign way. The attack will come not in a local way.

So please open your lips and pray for these two nations for protection” he told congregants.

He would however not state whether the said Thursday or Friday or Saturday would be in this month or the next, explaining “not necessarily this week, because it is a battle between the evil spirit and the holy spirit."

It would be recalled that T.B. Joshua recently claimed he prophesied the terror attack that took place in Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday, March 22, some weeks back.

Joshua reportedly gave a televised prophecy, telling his congregation to pray for a French country and that their security should sit tight, saying:

“In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I have three messages to give you. One is for a French country, they are to tighten their security it is not yet over.

These evil people are in the town” .

347 Unknown Corpses Given Mass Burial from Shiite / Army Clash

The Kaduna State Government said on Monday announced that 347 persons were killed during the Dec. 12 Shiite/Nigerian Army clash in Zaria.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Balarabe Lawal, disclosed this in a government submission at the ongoing Public Hearing of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the clash.

Lawal, who led a six-man government witnesses before the panel, said that 191 corpses were taken from the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria, and were buried in Mando area in Kaduna.

He said 156 corpses were also conveyed from Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, to the same Mando area.

The SSG said the corpses of youth Members of the Islam Movement (IMN) who allegedly attempted to attack the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Dec. 12, 2015, in Zaria.

The state government said the corpses were committed into a single grave (mass burial) at the Mando area jointly supervised by the state government officials and about 40 men of the Nigerian Army, led by an officer in the rank of a Major.

The SSG said 189 suspects were being prosecuted for alleged involvement in the Zaria crises while one suspect had died in custody.

He said the state government had received several security reports from the Directorate of State Security (DSS) on the activities of the movement.

According to him, several measures had been taken to address the situation before it finally escalated into the clash with the Nigerian Army.

Another witness and Director-General, Kaduna State Interfaith Agency, Mr Namadi Musa, said the mass burial was conducted on Dec. 14 and Dec. 15, respectively, and it took the officials about six hours to complete the burial.

Musa said while six tonnes of Mercedes tippers conveyed the 191 corpses from the ABUTH, the Army used three heavy duty trucks to convey corpses from the Zaria Army Depot.

“The mass burial was authorised through a warrant of burial obtained from a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna,’’ he said.

The state government blamed some of the lapses and the excesses of the movement on the inability of the previous government which did not take serious action to curtail the activities of the sect.

On alleged demolition of buildings and structures of the IMN leader, the witnesses said that the demolitions were based on recommendation of a committee set up by the state government.

The witnesses, including officials of KASUPDA, KAPWA and the state ministry of Works, Transport and Housing, told the panel that several other structures belonging to individuals had been demolished for poor building specifications and standards.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mrs Saratu Haruna, General Manager, KASUPDA; Mr Namadi Musa, D-G Interfaith Agency; and Prof. Adamu Ahmed, Deputy CMD ABUTH, appeared before the panel.

The Justice Muhammed Lawal-Garba panel also took submissions from the Izala Islamic group and Gyellesu Community in Zaria.

Yakubu's appointment was approved during the council of state meeting which held at the state house today October 21st. Yakubu takes over from Amina Zakari who has been working as INEC Chairman in acting capacity since Attahiru Jega left office in June. She was appointed INEC commissioner for the North-East. Yakubu was former executive secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund. Jessica Elvis was declared winner of the keenly contested election, which took place at a popular hangout, along Lasu-Iba road on Saturday.
It was gathered that Elvis polled 300 votes to defeat the incumbent,

Tamar Tion who got 63 votes. However, the incumbent rejected the outcome of the election, claiming that the election was marred with irregularities. Shortly after the 2015 electoral committee chairman, Franca ‘Top Up’ Chikam announced Elvis as the winner, the incumbent, Madam Efoyo revolted and ordered for a fresh election on the ground that she was rigged out. In the cause of the argument, fight broke out and one person believed to be loyal to Efoyo broke a bottle and stabbed one of their members.

According to a report by Vanguard, FG confirmed yesterday that they have succeeded in jamming the transmission signals of Radio Biafra, which they say have been operating illegally from an unknown location. Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Information, Yemi Folasade-Esan, told State House correspondents "Right now, the signals from Radio Biafra have been jammed.
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has successfully jammed that. The NBC is also working with security operatives to get those behind that radio because it is an illegal radio. It is not licensed by anybody to be on Nigeria’s airwaves."

Breaking News: Buhari sacks Chief of Army, Navy, Airforce

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the service chiefs of the army, navy and air force, a presidency spokesman said on Monday. The spokesman added that their replacements would be announced later on Monday. The move was widely anticipated as former general Buhari has made cracking down on Islamist militant group Boko Haram his number one priority.

  The Chiefs are Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Kenneth Minimah, The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin and Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.

Senate passes 46 bills in 10 minutes (wow)

The Senate on Wednesday passed 46 bills into law within 10 minutes. The bills were earlier passed by the House of Representatives in the current Seventh Assembly. The bills were introduced by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Senator Ita Enang.

The development generated arguments and side talks but the Senate President, David Mark, had his way when he called for voice votes, and ruled in favour of those in support of the passage. Mark asked those who were not satisfied with the passage of the bills to raise objections in writing at plenary on Thursday.
The Senate had earlier suspended Order 79 (1) of the Senate Standing Orders, creating the impression that all the Bills had passed first, second and third readings on the floor of the Senate and concur to same. Meanwhile, Mark has said the senate will continue further deliberations on the controversial Fourth Alteration Bill, which seeks to further amend the 1999 Constitution, on Thursday.
He also added that the valedictory session to formally close the Seventh Senate would also be held on Thursday
